Mariann Hughes Browne is an Irish Visual Artist based in Galway and County. She has a BA in Art & Design and a BA Honours Degree in Fine Art ‘Painting’ from GMIT (2009).
As a keen swimmer and scuba diver Mariann is an artist who has an ongoing preoccupation with water that has come to dominate her practice as a painter.
Visually enthralled with water’s optical effects; its unpredictability in how it refracts light and reflects colour and how it melts and disfigures everything viewed through it she explores the tension between abstraction and realism through this constantly changing lens.
Mariann’s work has been widely exhibited and collected; she is currently Secretary of the Board of Artspace Studios.e: firstname.lastname@example.org
