A brief history
The Artspace Studios were founded in 1986. Artspace is the first Artists Collective of its kind in the west of Ireland. The purpose of the studios is to provide a base for full-time working artists, enabling them to produce work in a suitable and stimulating environment.
The studios were originally situated in a city-centre warehouse in Forster Street, from where it moved to the former town house of Lady Gregory, next to the Galway Arts Centre.
Ten years later, in 1998 Artspace moved to specially designed premises in the Liosban Industrial Estate, and also secured five new studios in the Black Box, to accommodate the growing demand for studio spaces.
Today Artspace provides 18 studio spaces in the Liosban Estate and the Black Box facility.
